A while back I went to the movies and I saw the coolest popcorn bucket ever. There on display was Groot staring at me, calling my name, “I am Groot”…which translated to “Nabila, buy me”. I normally never buy food at movie theaters; we all know how obscenely expensive it is. With the price of what you pay, you can easily buy 2 more movie tickets. BUT…how can I say no to Groot, amirite? So I bought a $11 bucket of popcorn just for Groot.
I immediately knew I wanted to turn popcorn bucket Groot into a potted planter Groot. It’s just so perfect, ya know? How could I not? So, I went to my Abuelita’s garden and looked for a plant that would be perfect for Groot. I wanted it to appear as if Groot had hair coming out of it’s head. Unfortunately, Abuelita didn’t have a plant like the one I envisioned in her garden, so I ran to Home Depot and the plant that I found couldn’t have been more perfect!
I actually don’t remember what this plant is called, I just know that it blooms during the day and becomes a hermit at night. According to my Abuelita, they’re nicknamed “Buenos Dias” or “Sonrisa de Gaitan”. According to my mum, they should be called “Mata Despelucada” (translates to: Messy Hair Plant). You know, it kinda looks like me when I wake up…
If anyone knows the name of this plant, let me know please! 🙂

I love this! I recently saw a Spider-Man popcorn bucket and thought, I wonder how she did that?! Now I have a reason to buy an expensive popcorn at the movies. 🙂

Ahh, I love this! Wish I had a Groot planter of my own! (Sidenote, Groot looks super pensive in these photos…)

I was actually looking at this plant at Home Depot the other week and meant to go back for it. The bad news is that I don’t know the name of the plant. The good news is that you’ve got yourself one perfectly cool planter. Nice work!
